Scott Lindsley

Scott Lindsley has over thirty years of law enforcement experience serving the citizens of the Brevard County area of Central Florida. He started his Law Enforcement career as an auxiliary deputy with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in 1982. In 1984, Scott served in the United States Air Force where he trained as a Law Enforcement Specialist and a Military Working Dog Handler. He spent his first three years in the Air Force stationed at the largest U.S. Military installation in the world, Clark Air Base, in the Republic of the Philippines. During his time in the Air Force, Scott spent the majority of his time patrolling the base perimeters and apprehending intruders who entered the base illegally to steal U.S. Government resources.

Upon his Honorable Discharge from the USAF in 1989, Scott attended the Basic Police Academy and graduated second in his class. He was hired by the Melbourne Police Department where he spent the majority of his law enforcement career (23 years so far). During his career at the Melbourne Police Department, he has worked as a Patrol Officer, investigating crimes, making arrests, and testifying in court. In 1994, Scott became a Field Training Officer where he was tasked in training new officers in the skills they would need to successfully serve the community. In 1996, Scott was selected as a member of the K9 unit and became a State Certified K9 trainer. He trained numerous K9 teams throughout the Brevard County area and was the lead trainer for the K9 unit in Melbourne. In 2007, Scott was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Patrol/Operations Division. As a supervisor, Scott attended advance training in Supervision and Leadership as well as teaching.

At present, Scott is a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) State certified instructor in K9 Training, Firearms, Active Shooter, and is American Heart Association BLS CPR instructor. He is also an adjunct instructor for the Brevard Community College Police Academy where he teaches basic Law Enforcement techniques, traffic crash report procedures and firearms qualification for both the recruit Academy and EQ course for out of state Officers moving to Florida. During his Law Enforcement career, Scott has investigated major criminal activity and developed information in combatting crime against homes, communities and businesses. He has used these skills to assist crime victims in securing their homes and businesses more efficiently and how to prevent crime from occurring again in their neighborhoods. These ideas are instrumental in giving victims of crimes the tools to regain their peace of mind. He has the understanding that most crime is perpetrated due to opportunity and has developed a platform to teach citizens how to identify areas of weakness in their homes and businesses that can be exploited by criminals. One of Scott’s passions is to help his community in gaining the knowledge and skills to help prevent them from becoming victims. With his knowledge and experience, he has developed several presentations and courses that teach the citizen, business owner, and corporation what their responsibilities are in taking charge of their own safety. As Scott always says, “When seconds count, the Police are just minutes away”.
